Dancers

My dance is calculated

My pirouette is immaculate

My leaps and my turns all bring awe

The crowd applauses for me

I have all the praise I need

But there in the corner of my eye, a stranger dances his dance

His dance is sloppy

His dance has no rhythm

But strangely, the stranger smiles

My dance has no errors

My dance brings me glory

My arabesque stirs up wonders

But still, I can’t stop looking at the stranger

Dancing so crudely and so messy

And he laughs so loudly

He has no crowd, no praise, no roaring applause

None to impress

Why do I keep looking?

My form is perfection

My moves all have thought

My dance is a preemptive strike

But that stranger makes me wonder

With his feet, he follows no beat

And others do not even glance

But he laughs and he smiles

And curiously, my eyes keep gazing

My dance brings me roses

My splits bring me admirers

My crowd never dies down

My dance, I thought was happy

My dance is not for me

My dance is for others to see

And I realize, this stranger has something I lack

My dance is constricted

And how I long to be free
