Formless and shapeless
Love is wild
Love is tame
Love is soft
Love is strong
I pray to a God I do not love, so that I may love others
I pity us
Doomed to love with a love that is not perfect
Our love is vain
Our love is fickle
Our love can fail
There is a sweetness in this bitterness
I love the small loves the most
I held them in their cries
I smiled at them on the days they could not smile
I told them of a future they could believe in
Not all loves are grandiose
I love humanity
We are all flawed and that is okay
Brothers and sisters
Complicated, hurt, and imperfect like me
Happy, hopeful, and kind like me
Strange, that we do not love more
And yet, you begged for love once or twice
Some have given me grand joys
Some have given me slight smirks and chuckles
In a life filled with sharp edges
Love is a gentle feather from the whitest dove
I have said “I love you”
I think it means many things
Maybe you were a light for me on a dark night
Maybe you offered me small concessions
Maybe you eased my soul on a lonely day
Not always a romantic rush
Not always deepest desires fulfilled
Sometimes just a kind word
Sometimes simple companionship
But if I say “I love you”
You can be sure of one thing
You made me happy, even in a small way
I wish you happiness friend
I love you
I hope you all learn to love too
I still have to learn
